Baptized in the Calling

,

Here's a nugget I read to this morning by CHS:

Psalm 42:7

The human spirit functions in God-consciousness, the Father. The human soul functions in the power of the Spirit, the Son. The human body functions in the power of the Word, the epistle. The Father gives us His thoughts to make us God-conscious. The Son gives us the power of redemption over self in the soul. The Word gives us life and direction in the path of light for the Body.

Is it better to burn for The Lord or to obey?

,

Luke 22.33

Many are those that may burn in passionate love for The Lord who sing his praises and cannot be straightened in their zeal for him confessing their fiery love for Him. Yet when it comes to that lonely step of faith of obedience that is met with the icy cold wind of resistance they halt and step back secretly in their heart all the while confessing His Name and His Word.

There are times when the Fire burns in our bosom and we cannot stay but speak and move. But that is the rare blessed exception. To live in awareness of that Flame and it's purifying work is to quench it. To focus on the Flame and not the Still Small Voice of The Word inside of it is to get distracted and be turned aside to the emotion and phenomenon of the Fire & not the command. Though the Burning Flame in the heart of the quickened saint may be a new experience - the Cross must have its deep crucifying affect and separate the emotional feeling of the soul from the burning sensation of the Spirit.

The "ministers of fire" described in Hebrews 1.7 are servants that are aflame but often feel very little as they take faith steps of obedience in great weakness. It is in this great weakness where the soul feeling is divided from the spirit that God is glorified the most and His power is revealed - otherwise if the servant serves in the awareness of the Powerful Burning he is strong in his soulish feeling and weak in his spirit to obedience. We follow, we obey for the utmost of reasons, because of Truth - that is living by "Every Word"

The Historical Biblical Meaning of Palm Sunday

,

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, gentle and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey (Zechariah 9:9)

"And the Lord spoke unto Moses and — Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, This month shall be unto you the beginning of months:it shall be the first month of the year to you. Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for a house:
And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb. Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year:ye shall take it out from the sheep,” (Exodus 12.1-5)

“Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest!” (Mark 11:9-10)

We celebrate Palm Sunday traditionally a week before Easter. Easter Week is one the most attended events in churches worldwide, yet not everyone understands the implications of Palm Sunday or the deep meaning that Palm Sunday has historically.

Palm Sunday falls historically on the 10th of Nisan - a Jewish day designated for the Jews to select a lamb from “among the sheep” - each family taking a lamb that would be big enough for the household. The lamb had to be a male lamb without blemish or defect and it had to be of the first year. Then after the lamb was selected it had to be presented to the priest at the temple for inspection.

Then on the 14th day of Nisan, the lamb was to be slain after being with the household for those 4 days.

Palm Sunday 2000 years ago was a fulfillment of prophecy from Zech 9.9 & Psalm 118 - that when Jesus rode on a donkey into Jerusalem the Perfect Blameless Lamb of God that was chosen for us and every household of the families of the earth, was presented before the priests for inspection. Israel rejoiced as Jesus rode in to Jerusalem and they cried out the words of Psalm 118 reserved for this great day. As they cried out they lay palm leaves and their coats for Jesus to ride on. This Lamb was not to small to pay for the sins of the world or too great. He was fitted for every man, woman, and child that would need a savior.

This is why we celebrate Palm Sunday, a day when we reflect on our Savior who was sent into the world by the constraining love of God. As we celebrate Him we understand that He was approved of the Father as a sacrifice and a provision to be delivered from the bondage of Egypt’s sin and slavery.

The Controversies of Facebook & it's Benefits

,

Today is the 2 month mark of being back on Facebook after several years of not being on it. Here are only a few observations I have made these past 8 weeks - (it is not an exhaustive observation nor does this article address the myriad of privacy issues brought up of late)

1. Facebook is more than a communication platform such as email or texting as some say - because it is more encompassing in it's sphere of simultaneous influence and impact.
2. Facebook is a sphere that is based on immediate gratification potentially disarming people to be vulnerable to be hurt. This adds to the potentially addictive and narcissistic nature of Facebook.
3. Facebook has created a social marketplace that is void of the laws & barriers of organizational walls, taboos, and distance. Thus people separated by politics, language, distance and religious persuasions now connect.
4. Facebook has facilitated a social climate that meets more on a event, activity and personal interest level rather than an orientation point of specific meaningful subjects, beliefs and spiritual values.
5. Facebook has become the modern day “Chambers of Imagery” in Ez 8.12 and courtyard of idle words in Mat 12.36 with reckless expression in some cases - adding to the controversial argument against Facebook
6. Facebook due to is virtual environment causes people to drop their guard and their communication filter. FB creates a separate reality where people say things that they'd never say in public because of a false sense of safety & privacy
7. Facebook in that it is not truly face to face, can create a feeling of freedom to say what people want without the consequences of being physically present - this leads to hurtful and embarrassing situations hurting relationships.
8. Facebook can very easily create an overly familiar atmosphere where the fear of the Lord is lost.
9. Facebook though it has it’s downward gravitational pull to low levels of communication, gossip and petty exchanges - can be a zone of great edification and encouragement when  used with social maturity in mind applying Godly filters and God’s guidelines for communication - Eph 4.29
10. Though the roads of Rome connected Europe with much hurtful commerce, cultural trends and lifestyle, Paul the apostle in contrary used the Roman Roads to be a means and conduit for the Gospel that spread abroad the empire and changed many people, nations and history.
